Fara Music Summer School 2013, VII edition (22/28 July 2013) in collaboration with the Collective School of Music in New York

The 2013 edition of the Fara Music Festival to be held in Fara in Sabina July 22/28, will see the collaboration of Fara Music with one of the most important teaching facilities in the United States, the Collective School of Music in New York. The American Institute will offer two scholarships for the best participants in the Summer School 2013. The link with New York, also extends to the participation in the Summer School and Festival of 4 great musicians who live in the Big Apple:the pianist Kevin Hays, guitarist Jonathan Kreisberg, drummer Greg Hutchinson, bassist Reuben Rogers and other incredible musicians such as saxophonist Michael Rosen and Gary Thomas. The six musicians will direct the seminars of Fara Music Summer School with other great Italian musicians such as bass player Dario Deidda and the guitarist Fabio Zeppetella. In addition to the seminars there will be 2 Laboratories: The Vocal Jazz Lab with singer Cinzia Spata, and Vocinsieme (voices together) with the collaboration of Centrottava, directed by Claudio Fabro (choral singing, team teaching), Raffaella Misiti (vocal technique, team teaching), Susanna Stivali (jazz singing, team teaching), Gabriella Aiello (folk songs, team teaching), Bernardo Nardini (stage presence, team teaching), Livia Corelli (speech and vocal movement) Andrea Rodini (performance), Tiziano Lamantea (Shiatsu), Marco Vallarino (Fekldenkrais), Simone Moscato (Vocal Rock).

Directions: Jonathan Kreisberg:Born in New York City, guitarist and composer. Jonathan started playing guitar at the age of ten after moving to Miami with his family. Upon graduation, Jonathan began playing straight ahead jazz gigs as well as a myriad of other projects. He performed 20th century works with the New World Symphony under Michael Tilson Thomas. He also recorded a C.D. and performed extensively with the progressive rock group Third Wish. He has played with Lee Konitz, Joe Locke, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Joel Frahm, Greg Tardy, Lenny White, Roy Nathanson, Donald Edwards, Jane Monheit, Ari Hoenig, Yosvany Terry, Bill Stewart, Larry Grenadier, Scott Wendholt. Kevin Hays: american jazz pianist and composer. He is known for the Kevin Hays Trio and being in the Bill Stewart Trio. His recordings have been listed as among the ‘Top 40 Jazz Releases of the Year’ by Musician Magazine and praised by The New York Times. Kevin Hays has now recorded over a dozen CD’s as a leader, and he has played with Sonny Rollins, Benny Golson, Ron Carter, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Roy Haynes, John Scofield, Donald Harrison, Chris Potter, Al Foster, Buster Williams, Art Farmer, Brad Mehldau etc… Greg Hutchinson: Jazz Magazine describes him as “the drummer of his generation” and indeed, Gregory Hutchinson is one of the most highly respected musicians of our time. His experience and technique make him one of the most exciting musicians to watch and hear. He has the creative power, Dianne Reeves describes him as “Pure Genius.” Gary Giddins described his drum work as “Elegant” and more “like dancing.” Joshua Redman describes him as “Inspired. He has played with Roy Hargrove, Ray Brown, Joshua Redman, John Scofield e Joe Henderson. Reuben Rogers: is an American jazz bassist, composer and educator. Rogers was exposed to varieties of music that included calypso, reggae, gospel and jazz. He began with the clarinet, experimented with the piano, drums and guitar, yet at the age of 14 found his true passion in the bass. Rogers' musical education was punctuated by numerous awards, a scholarship endowed by the Fish Middleton Jazz Society. He has worked with jazz artists of world-renown, such as Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman, Nicholas Payton, Mulgrew Miller, Jackie McLean, Charles Lloyd and Dianne Reeves, amongst others. Gary Thomas: Saxophonist and flutist Gary Thomas established himself in the 1980s as one of the most jarring soloists of his generation. Thomas has worked with John McLaughlin, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Jim Hall, Dave Holland, Wayne Shorter, Ravi Coltrane, Cassandra Wilson, Wallace Roney, Miles Davis, Steve Coleman, as well as numerous other premier jazz musicians. He currently serves as Director of Jazz Studies at the Peabody Institute in Baltimore. Founder of jazz studies degree program at Peabody. First African-American degree program director at the conservatory. Internationally-known tenor saxophonist, flutist, and educator. Has traveled the globe as both a leader and a sideman. Performance and recording credits alongside the likes of Dennis Chambers, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ron Carter, Vinnie Colaiuta, Billy Hart, Wynton Marsalis, David Sanborn, Joe Lovano, Joshua Redman, Bobby McFerrin, Sam Rivers, Vanessa Williams, Betty Carter, George Benson, McCoy Tyner, Randy Brecker, James Newton, Jeff Watts, Marvin “Smitty”Smith, Patrice Rushen, Kevin Eubanks, John Scofield, Tony Williams, Kenny Garrett, Jimmy Smith, John Patitucci. Michael Rosen: èborn in New York, Michael has been living and working mainly in Europe. After the graduated he moved in Italy to work. As a studio musician, Michael has recorded solos on approximately 100 albums/cd’s of every conceivable genre and for a vast array of Italy’s most revered singers, including Mina, Adriano Celentano and Renato Zero. He has played at numerous jazz festivals and has performed and recorded with, among others, Bobby Mcferrin, Jim Hall, Carl Anderson, Tommy Campbell, Peter Erskine, Roberta Gambarini, Marcello Pelletteri, George Garzone, Mike Stern and Kenny Wheeler, as well as with a swathe of important Italian and European artists, such as Stefano Bollani, Sarah Jane Morris, Enrico Rava, Paolo Fresu, Roberto Gatto, Danilo Rea, Franco D’Andrea, and Franco Ambrosetti, to name just a few. Fabio Zeppetella: He has played with Area 2, Noisemaker, Hein Van De Geyn, Aldo Romano, Kenny Wheeler, Rosario Giuliani, Fabrizio Bosso, Stefano Di Battista, Jeff Ballard, Emmanuel Bex, Lee Konitz, Steve Grossman, Enrico Rava, Tom Harrell, Jimmy Owens, John Clarke, Gianluca Petrella, Lincoln Goines, Kim Plainfield, Ernst Rejseger, Aaron Goldberg, Greg Hutchinson, Gegè Telesforo.
